Family Portrait Photography

Family portrait photography is wonderful. Seeing the love within a family and capturing it at a moment in time is what I love best. We all lead such busy lives so getting a chance to experience “us” time together can be so special. I offer a variety of different family photography experiences from studio-based to outdoor locations. Whichever photography experience you and your family choose, I will make it fun and relaxed. When I photograph families, the feedback I get is that I make people feel relaxed, comfortable and they have fun.

A Family Portrait – what sort of family are you?

What sort of family are you? Do you enjoy countryside walks, splashing in puddles and skimming pebbles on the beach? Or do you enjoy spending time at home, in your garden or at the park? Are you always looking for the next adventure? Or does life have enough adventure and you seek relaxation? Everyone and every family is different and therefore so are my family photoshoots. It’s all about you and your family.

I have photographed families in the woods, in the garden, at the park, at the beach or in the back streets of Brighton. In fact, I love to photograph different locations and will be guided by your ideas. Families often have special places and that’s why I will take time to talk to you about the perfect location.

Alternatively, I have a small dedicated home studio in Hurstpierpoint. I offer an alternative to the traditional family studio portrait. Let me tell you about “The Cube”.

Family Cube Studio Shoot

Family Cube studio shoot’s are one of my most popular. The Cube is a fun-filled alternative to traditional studio portraiture.  The big difference is that there is no formal posing.  Children end up having so many ideas that they often lead the session. Once the shoot is finished, you will be invited back to view the images, choose your favourites. Your own unique “CUBE” is made up of 9 individual images. This is one of the most stunning and unique family portraits which really creates a wow factor on your wall.

An amazing experience had by our family in the cube. All 6 of us had such an enjoyable time and couldn’t be more happy with the results. Louise made us all feel relaxed and captured some lovely natural photos of us all. The hardest part was choosing the final photos for the picture as they were all amazing. Thank you so much for everything. 100% recommend this to everyone I know.” Helen, Haywards Heath

Family Location Shoots

Family location shoots are up to an hour and a half. Location shoots can take place almost anywhere. I have enjoyed photographing families with three generations in the back garden as well as locations further away.  My location shoots are all about having a fun and relaxed experience. This means that I will get the most natural images making the whole experience enjoyable. With busy lives, it’s often hard to bring the whole family together. That’s why I want to make it a great experience for the whole family. Everything is well planed and the result is heartwarming images you will love. Once the shoot is over, you will be invited to a viewing and ordering appointment at my studio. You will be shown all the best images from the shoot and I will guide you through the framing options.

Louise is really welcoming and easy to work with. We had great fun doing the photoshoot – think my daughter could have stayed posing all day. This was our first family shoot following the arrival of Jack and everything went smoothly even though we did have to stop for bottle feeding and nappy changes! We’re ecstatic with our final photos and print, very good quality and well worth the money. We would highly recommend Louise.” Emma M, Burgess Hill

Portrait Photography – letting the real you shine out

I love portrait photography . What I particularly love is creating a safe space in which people can relax and feel comfortable. I want to create images which you will love. To do that, my job is to put you at ease and get the most natural expressions possible. Be assured that my portrait photography shoots are always fun. My portraits aim to capture the real you and portray you in the best possible light.  You will be guided by me but they will be real and authentic.

Teen Studio Portraits

Teen studio portraits are all about the teenager. I ask them about what they hope to achieve with the shoot and I focus the shoot on their wishes. There is little in the way of serious posing. Photographing teenagers is all about capturing the essence of them at this important time in their lives. Many teens who I have photographed have expressed how good it made them feel.

Child Studio Portraits

Child studio portraits are all about creating a fun and fast-moving photo shoot. Your child or children can have a session on their own or together with siblings.  I create child portraits which are natural by using a variety of backgrounds and lighting. Above all, I aim to make your child feel comfortable and relaxed.

Adult Studio portraits

Adult studio portraits are often a way to take a little “you” time. The studio portrait session is all about you and therefore I take time to understand what you would like to achieve before we start shooting.  You can have a dark and moody noir shoot or a softer colourful look. Combining both looks is also possible if you choose. It’s about creating images you will love and giving you a great experience doing so.

Family Portrait Photography FAQ’s

The session fees quoted are my standard fee for the photo shoot. They include a holding the booking date, my time, editing the images, creating a slide show for you to view and hosting the viewing appointment. The session fee does not include any images or prints.

After your photo-shoot, we arrange your viewing and ordering appointment. These are usually in the evening and held at my Hurstpierpoint studio. I create a slideshow of all the best images. You will be able to relax and enjoy watching back over your shoot with projected images in a slide show to music. I then show you the images one by one for you to be able to choose your favourites. I will also show you the different wall frames and products which you can choose to display your images. I use professional print labs and have selected the highest quality frames and products to compliment your home.

People often ask me this question. I have been a photographer most of my life. However, I started my professional photography business in May 2016. I have always loved photographing people and I now have a back catalogue of images dating back to the 1970s!
